28 lbs

Today I'm dropping off 10lbs of assorted toys (mostly the stuffed variety that take up a lot of space and provide little play value for my boys), and 18lbs of kitchenware (Visionware stockpot and cover, and a variety of muggs and glasses). They'll be left at the Salvation Army and directed to the Forward Avenue fire victims.

I'd say the purge is going well!

15 lbs

This is going to be dropped off later today at the Salvation Army. We're directing it to the fire victims. It includes 2 sets of Little People toys, a bunch of kids' clothes, a pair of Calvin Klein jeans (that I bought at Frenchies a couple years ago), some towels, a pair of chunky summer shoes, some kids' sneakers, and a pair of Docs that I picked up at St. VdP a few months back. My feet ended up not liking them too much, so I'm passing them along in the hopes that someone else will love them for me.

Entry #1

Most of you will have heard about the big fire in the Ottawa Housing complexes on Forward Ave. Many families have lost everything they own. As a result, I'm taking the opportunity to go through the kids' stuff and put together a bag (one of many, I'm sure) to be dropped off at #1's school today.

The majority of the stuff I've found are items I had placed aside to consign--primarily brandname coats, pants, overalls, etc in like-new condition. I feel a lot better donating them to help out right now than consigning them for a paltry return on their actual worth. Everything is taking a spin in the dryer with some dryer sheets to remove any dust or stale odours they may have picked up from storage in a plastic box.

I'll post the first Purge update after they've been bagged and weighed.
